It could be a season defining weekend for the Invicta Dynamos as they face possibly their two biggest games of the campaign.
Kevin Parrish’s side travel to the Isle of Wight on Saturday looking to claim two points and a win against the Wightlink Raiders before returning to Gillingham on Sunday evening to face NIHL South league leaders Chelmsford Chieftains.
Both games will be massive tests for a rejuvenated Dynamos side that have lost just one league tie in their last eighteen games and are unbeaten in the league in their last thirteen matches.
With it getting ever nearer to the business end of the season, the Dynamos know they will need to be on top form to beat the Raiders at their own rink and will need to emulate that form once again to beat the league leaders, but Head Coach Kevin Parrish believes his side are more than capable of making it a weekend to remember:
“It’s a massive weekend for us, a big test, but the team is capable of a three or four point weekend.”
Meanwhile, captain Nicky Lewis believes the young roster are able to make it a weekend that fans will enjoy:
“Wightlink is a tough place to play and they are on a bit of a downer having lost a few games, but they will be up for it.”
“To beat Chelmsford, we’re going to have to win every battle out there on the ice and be better than them.”
The good news for Dynamos fans is that former import Juraj Huska will be missing from the Chelmsford roster on Sunday night with the Slovakian in Canada for the next couple of weeks.
With it being Valentine’s Day on Sunday, love between the two sides may be suspended for a few hours with Chelmsford still set to include former Dynamos Anthony Leone, Danny Hammond and both Phillips brothers Billy and Charlie.
Leone and the Phillips pair were instrumental in helping the Kent side to securing the NIHL Southern Cup last season, but Dynamos fans will be hoping they have an off night back in Gillingham.
Face off on Sunday is 5:15pm with a bumper crowd expected at Silver Blades.
