Former Invicta Dynamos junior Bailey Wootton is back with the Mos after signing from the London Raiders.
The 18 year old is back in Kent following his first full campaign in the NIHL South Division 1.
Wootton was lacing up his skates at the Silver Blades Gillingham to ice for the juniors before his age was in double figures and he went on to become an excellent prospect shining brightest for the under 16s between 2010 and 2012.
In 2010/11 the young forward helped guide his side to a second place finish in their division with 21 goals and 30 assists from just 15 outings – a tally that made him the third highest scorer in the competition.
He would repeat that achievement just one year later but this time the skater was on target 38 times and played a role in 50 more for 88 points in only 19 fixtures.
By 2012/13 Wootton then worked his way to Lee Valley where he would later captain their under 18s before stepping up to represent the senior side in the NIHL South Division 2 the following year.
In 2014/15 the inevitable progression into the NIHL’s top tier followed and Wootton featured 39 times for the London Raiders managing to tally 4 goals and 9 assists in his debut campaign.
Now though the young forward will be looking to establish himself further in the division as he moves back to the club where it all began determined to make his mark.
Speaking on the signing of Bailey Wootton, Head Coach Kevin Parrish said, “I’m very pleased to have Bailey back in Gillingham and having completed most of his junior hockey here I know he’s happy to be making a return.”
“Bailey was always a standout performer as a junior who frequently put up big numbers and there’s no question that he can go on to be an excellent player at this level.”
“Having made the difficult transition from junior hockey to NIHL South Division 1 last season, and got a full campaign under his belt with the London Raiders, I’m sure his confidence will be on the rise this year and with that we’ll begin to see the best that he has to offer”.
Bailey Wootton is the sixth player to sign for the Dynamos this off-season and the second new face to join the team following the capture of London Raiders teammate Jacob Ranson.
The 18 year old will be looking to make the number 33 jersey his own when the new season gets underway at the Silver Blades Gillingham in September.
