The Invicta Dynamos kick off their new season this weekend and Head Coach Kevin Parrish can’t wait to get underway.
Parrish’s new look roster will take to the ice with plenty of new faces after the likes of Callum Fowler, Anthony Leone and Juraj Huska moved on to pastures new over the summer.
In have come two new imports with defenceman Ondrej Zosiak and forward Eriks Ozollapa an unknown quantity in the NIHL South.
With new captain Nicky Lewis set to lead the side, the Dynamos fans have lots of new idols as Parrish has gone down the road of brining in a younger side with Jarvis Mewett, Conor Redmond, Bailey Wootton, Andy Henderson, Joshua Condren and Jacob Ranson all brought in over the summer.
Complimenting the new signings, there are welcome returns for the likes of Arran Strawson and Elliott Dewey, with Parrish having added to his backroom team with the highly talented Dmitri Rodin having come in as Assistant Coach.
This new look side face their first fixture of the league campaign at home this Sunday when Bracknell Hornets come to Silver Blades in Gillingham.
With expectations lower than seasons gone past, Parrish is hoping his young roster can keep under the radar throughout the season and surprise a few people:
“We can’t wait to get going. It’s a new team with some players having gone and some having come back, it’s as simple as that.”
“We’re looking sharp, we’re looking fresh and we can’t wait to get underway against Bracknell on Sunday.”
“I think something the fans will see this season is a different work ethic with everyone working their butts off for the badge.”
“I’m hoping we can be winning games 3-2 this year rather than being on the back of 8-7 losses.”
Known to be the loudest fans in the league, the Dynamos are well supported by the Kent locals and Parrish feels this season, more than any, will be an important one with the supporters having a massive role to play:
“Hopefully we can get the fans as excited as much as we are. Looking at Facebook and Twitter I see the fans are as keen as I am to get the season going and they can be our extra man on the ice.”
“I think the fans will get excited this year seeing this young side develop. It might take a little time to get everything right, but if the fans stay with the side and back them every step of the way, who knows where we will end up.”
“This is a family club and we appreciate every single fan that comes through the door and hopefully they’ll all go away having had a good night and tell their friends to come and support Kent’s premier ice hockey side.”
Face off on Sunday is 5:15pm with a big crowd expected for the opening clash of the campaign.
