The Invicta Dynamos overturned a two goal deficit to beat Cardiff NIHL Devils in their play-off on Sunday night.Invicta Dynamos5

Having lost 6-4 to the Welsh outfit on Saturday evening, Kevin Parrish’s side were involved in an entertaining battle at the Silver Blades Ice Bowl in Gillingham, winning 9-4 on the night and 13-10 on aggregate.

In a game that swung one way and another, it was the Dynamos that won the day, but not after an epic battle against opposition that put up a stern fight.

Nicky Lewis was to open the scoring for the Dynamos within two minutes of the start and Jack Tarczycki pulled the tie level on aggregate moments later.

However, Cardiff were to pull level on the night with two quick goals themselves before Andy Smith bagged his first of the night.

The visitors weren’t to be denied though and went in level 3-3 at the end of the first period, restoring their two goal aggregate advantage.

The second period proved to be decisive though as the Dynamos scored three times unanswered with Andy Smith bagging all of them to make it 6-3 on the night and 10-9 to the Dynamos overall.

Cardiff were to score first in a nervy final period, once again levelling the game, but the Dynamos stepped it up in the last with Peter Vaisanen making it 7-4 to put them back in front once again.

With time running out and the game still on a knife edge, Smith bagged his fifth of the night and the game was capped off with Callum Fowler scoring the ninth of the evening to send the crowd into raptures.

The Dynamos will now face league winners Chelmsford Chieftains in the next round of the play-offs with the home leg to be played on Saturday night with the return leg in Essex the following evening.
