Eighteen year old Dundee born blue liner Adam McNicoll has become the Invicta Dynamos latest summer signing.Adam McNicoll

The skater has agreed a deal in Gillingham following his return to the UK from the Orangeville Americans the other side of the Atlantic.

Adam McNicoll progressed through the ranks in his home town of Dundee and, by 2011/12, was already splitting his time between the Dundee Junior Stars in the under 18s and the senior Comets side in the Scottish National League (SNL).

With his help, his Junior Stars team swept their way to the league and cup success whilst the Comets secured an emphatic treble – finishing top of the pile in the SNL, scooping the silverware in the league cup and claiming the playoffs with a victory over North Ayrshire in the final. McNicoll represented the side a total of 9 times in 2011/12 and netted on 4 occasions whilst chipping in with 6 assists for 10 points.

In the summer of 2012, Adam McNicoll then made the move across the pond where he joined up with the Orangeville Americans in the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League (GMHL). Icing out of Ontario, Canada, the skater would appear 31 times in the regular season for the Americans before featuring on a further 6 occasions come the playoffs.

He would finish the campaign having donned the Orangeville jersey a total of 37 times whilst claiming 9 goals and playing a hand in 7 more for a total of 16 points – his Americans squad ultimately finishing ninth in a league of fifteen and seeing their post-season run come to an end at the semi-final stage.

Now, the Scottish born skater, who has played both in defence and as a forward, will hope to secure silverware in Kent as he switches to the NIHL South Division 1 and signs a contract with the Invicta Dynamos.

Speaking after the capture of Adam McNicoll, Head Coach Kevin Parrish announced that he was pleased to have the promising young skater on the books and saw him as a good fit for his new look side.

Parrish said, “Adam joins us fresh from a year in Canada with the Orangeville Americans in a Junior A league and I’ve no doubt his experiences across the pond will have proven invaluable in his development.”

“At 18, soon to be 19, he is still very young but he arrives with plenty of promise and an approach to the game that will benefit us in 2013/14.”

“He will play primarily as a defenceman but his ability to ice as a forward will help our transition from front to back and I’m sure he will make his mark when the new season gets underway in September”.

Adam McNicoll, who becomes the latest skater to wear the number 20 jersey in Gillingham, becomes the seventeenth player on the club’s roster with Head Coach Kevin Parrish now close to completing his 2013/14 squad.
