Head coach Kevin Parrish wants his Invicta Dynamos side to extend their eleven game unbeaten league when they face Solent Devils on Sunday night.
The Kent side went into Christmas on a real high after beating Chelmsford Chieftains 6-2 on Sunday to extend their lead at the top of the NIHL South to three points.
Despite the victory, Parrish doesn’t want his side to rest on their laurels and is already looking at strengthening his side further and believes the Dynamos need to keep on winning if they are to challenge for honours come the end of the season:
“We need to start looking at another experienced D man to bring in, but until that issue is cleared, I’m happy with it.”
“Our roster is very strong and is probably about where we wanted to be at this stage of the season.”
“We said at the start of the year that we were going to go with a small squad and then build on it and I think that’s what we are doing.”
“When every guy is back, injury free and ban free, we are going to have a good squad. It could be a case now where everyone will have to play for their position and if that happens the team gets hungrier.”
“We can be devastating for the rest of the season and we have got to push on. Just because we beat Chelmsford, it doesn’t mean we will win the league.”
“That’s a long way off and no one wins it before Christmas. We have got to take another two points against Solent.”
Two more points at home to Solent Devils on Sunday night will mean the Dynamos will end 2014 on a real high, but before that they face the daunting task of heading to Guildford Flames on Saturday evening.
For Parrish, the game is one his side must take with all seriousness, but hinted his priority is clearly no longer on the English Challenge Cup:
“We will go to Guildford and be professional. We’ve got to go there and have an open mind, take our fans with us and have a good day out.”
“It’s the day after Boxing Day and we’ve got to have that level of professionalism about us, but we’ve got to have one eye on Solent Devils.”
With it being just over the halfway point of the season, the Dynamos will now be tested to their limits, but on what fans have seen so far, there is a real sense of optimism in Gillingham.
Face off at Silver Blades on Sunday night is 5:15pm with a great crowd expected to see the unbeaten Dynamos.
