It’s back to league action this weekend for the Invicta Dynamos after booking their place in the NIHL Southern Cup final last Sunday.
Kevin Parrish’s roster make the trip overseas to the Isle of Wight on Saturday evening to face Wightlink Raiders once again and possibly for the last time in the rink that’s threatened with closure.
Having been there just last Saturday for the first leg of the cup semi-final, the players will go there knowing exactly what they will face in one of the country’s smallest rinks.
Last weekend ended up 3-2 to the home side, but with two league points to play for and the Dynamos having already secured second place in the league, they will go there wanting to pick up a win and keep the pressure on league leaders Chelmsford Chieftains.
The Essex outfit are a point clear at the top of the table with two games in hand, so it’s for them to lose, but Parrish wants his side to finish the season strongly ahead of the cup final against the Chieftains at the end of the month and then the play-offs in April:
“We can’t lose any more games, it’s as simple as that. We want to come as high as we can this season.”
“We have to keep going, keep plugging away, take every period at a time and not worry what Chelmsford are doing.”
“We have got to worry what we are doing. Hopefully they will slip up and we can top that table.”
Once Saturday night’s game is out of the way, the Dynamos will turn their attention to their penultimate home league fixture of the season with London Raiders coming to Gillingham on Sunday evening.
It should see former Dynamos netminder Chris Douglas make a return to the rink where he started the season with face off at 5:15pm and a big crowd expected.
