He will represent his country in a tournament to be held in Zell am See, Austria next month.

Owen, a pupil at The Towers School in Ashford earnt himself a trial place following his selection for the South East regional team which he has represented at U11, U13 and this season at the U15 age groups.

Dell found out about his selection late last Friday following an email from the England selectors. He and his England team mates will travel to Zell am See in Austria in the final week of March to compete in the World Tournament XXV where they can expect to face tough opposition from across Europe and beyond with teams from the US and Canada having previously entered.

Owen, who is being kindly sponsored by his uncle’s engineering firm A & G Pipework and Welding Ltd, said of his selection: “I’m very excited to have been picked and can not wait to get to Austria and represent England which is a huge honour for me.”

“It has been a big commitment but my school, club and parents have been massively supportive which I’m very grateful for.”

Invicta Dynamos Junior Ice Hockey Club and Invicta Mustangs Head Coach Ali Rodger said: “We’re all very proud of Owen’s achievement on being selected. Whenever a player is selected to represent their nation or region, I and the other volunteer coaches and officials involved at the club are always happy and it demonstrates the talent pool that we have within the club and locally.”

“He and a number of others are certainly ones to watch for the future.”

Anyone interested in watching a junior hockey game are more than welcome with entry to all junior games is free and held most weekends at the Silverblades Gillingham Ice Rink.
