Invicta Dynamos players past and present teamed up with supporters of the club for a round of footgolf in aid of the Kent Sports Trust Foundation.

Staged on the bespoke 18-hole footgolf course at Deangate Ridge Golf & Sports Complex, the White Associates-sponsored Invicta Dynamos Footgolf Cup attracted 70 competitors, including club officials, former greats, and current players.

Among the footgolfers in action in support of the Kent Sports Trust Foundation were Invicta Dynamos legends Alex Shaw and Justin Noble, both of whom travelled from Canada to Kent to be part of the Medway-based ice hockey club’s 20th anniversary celebratory weekend.

While Mos head coach Kevin Parrish was back on the footgolf links for a second time – having taken part in the charity’s inaugural event at Upchurch River Valley Golf Course in July 2016 – his fellow legend Elliot Andrews was making his official footgolfing debut on the course at Deangate Ridge FootGolf.

“As a footballer in my younger days, I was quite looking forward to having a crack at footgolf,” Andrews said. “And given I finished 2nd overall in the singles competition, I may have to take it up professionally!”

Parrish added: “On a serious note, though, it was brilliant fun. It was fantastic to catch up with some old friends on the course, too.”

As it transpired, Andrews and Parrish’s team of five (James Smith, Andrews, Kevin Parrish, Isaac Parrish, and Franky Smith) took home the coveted team prize.

Andrews’s teammate Smith, meanwhile, picked up the trophies for the overall lowest individual score and lowest individual score by an amateur by carding a tremendous round of 50 (-9).

Keeping it in the club family, Invicta Dynamos junior player Brandon Chard collected the award for the lowest individual score by a junior after shooting a stellar 62 (+3).

Current English Premiership star Dan Scott scooped the longest drive award for his powerful strike on the 10th hole, while Princes Park FootGolf Club’s Daniel Sinfield went home with a goblet after seeing his tee shot on the 4th hole finish nearest the pin.

CEO of the Kent Sports Trust Foundation Steve Wolfe was delighted to have seen so many people out on the footgolf course during the afternoon in support of the charity and the recently crowned NIHL Southern Play-off winners.

“I can’t thank the footgolfers enough for joining us at Deangate Ridge Golf & Sports Complex today. It was superb to see so many smiling faces and to hear so much good-natured laughter.

“It’s events like this that enable us to do what we do,” Wolfe added. “Once again, we couldn’t do that without the support shown to us from sponsors such as White Associates and all the competitors.”

The Kent Sports Trust Foundation is planning to stage a series of further charity events in 2017, including a 3-day cycle ride, a running event, a golf day, a darts challenge, and more.
