The Invicta Dynamos have welcomed a fourth new face to the ranks for 2013/14 following the arrival of 19 year old utility man Shaun Wild from the EPL’s Sheffield Steeldogs.
Yorkshire man Shaun Wild rose through the ranks in his hometown of Sheffield before representing the club at ENIHL level as early as 2009/10 aged just 16. He then spent the following term splitting his time between the under 18s and the Spartans in the ENIHL North’s top tier whilst also securing his first taste of EPL action with 7 outings in the league above.
His swift development saw him worthy of a call up to represent Great Britain in the World Junior Championships – a tournament in which he made 4 appearances on the international stage.
In 2011/12, Wild then iced 32 times in the ENIHL for the Spartans – netting on 14 occasions and claiming 17 assists in the process – whilst also pulling on the Steeldogs’ jersey for 11 EPL games.
His performances impressed Head Coach Andre Payette enough to warrant a further 43 outings in the league above last season – a tally of fixtures that has now seen him play 61 times in the English Premier League.
In addition, Wild also iced for the NIHL North’s Spartans in 21 games throughout 2012/13, managing 17 points in the process. Now though, any further points will come in Kent as the utility man, who can play in defence or as a forward, moves south to make Gillingham his home as he joins the Invicta Dynamos.
Speaking on the arrival of his latest acquisition, Head Coach Kevin Parrish briefly gave an insight into Shaun Wild’s game when he said, “Shaun has now had plenty of EPL experience and he comes very highly recommended. He will join our roster as a defenceman and I anticipate him being the quick puck moving ‘d-man’ that I have been looking for.”
“He has plenty of potential, a good attitude and I’m looking forward to having him out on the ice in a Dynamos jersey come the start of 2013/14”.
Meanwhile new signing Shaun Wild revealed he was thrilled to be making the move to Kent and was looking forward to getting going when he said, “I am proud to have been asked to play for the Invicta Dynamos and I will be giving my all for the team. It’s an exciting challenge to play for a new club and I can’t wait to meet all of the Invicta players and fans.”
“I will be working very hard to keep up my fitness and keep my level of performances high to maintain my place in the squad. This is an excellent opportunity and I can’t wait to get out on the ice”.
Wild then gave his new supporters an insight into what they should expect when he added, “I’ve now been playing ice hockey for ten years in Sheffield and within that time I have represented my club, conference and national teams along with the Great Britain under 18s.”
“I play forward or defence and give 100% every time I take to the ice. I like to think I’m a team player and I’m sure I’ll settle in quickly with the Dynamos and show what I’m capable of. I’d like to thank Kevin Parrish for this opportunity and I look forward to the challenge of doing him, the team and the fans proud come the puck drop in September”.
New signing Shaun Wild will wear number 19 for the Dynamos and joins Alan Lack, Arran Strawson, Juraj Huska and Ryan Giles on the roster for 2013/14.
