It’s the end of the road for the Invicta Dynamos season after they bowed out of the play-offs at the semi-final stage.
Kevin Parrish’s side went into Sunday evening’s tie with Wightlink Raiders trailing 4-3 after the 1st leg, but couldn’t overcome the deficit, going down 3-2 on the night and 7-5 on aggregate.
The night had started so well for the Dynamos who welcomed Ryan Giles back to the roster as they took a 2-0 lead by the end of the first period.
Firstly Nicky Lewis slammed the puck home in the 14th minute to the delight of the home support before Danny Hammond capped a fine individual weekend wiyh a well taken goal after great work from Dan Fudger.
However, the vistors were to show some stiff resistance and after a first period that saw plenty of scuffles and penalties, the second was to be largely one way traffic with Wightlink’s Nathan Taylor netting just before the half hour mark.
If the Dynamos were to have any luck in the final period, it was all to be bad as they failed to find the net, not without the effort though.
The visitors were to have more luck in front of goal and pulled the game level on 43 minutes when Matthew Viazzari scored from distance.
Three minutes later and the game was put to bed as Richard Facey made the most of a powerplay to make it 3-2 on the night.
It wasn’t for a lack of effort that the Dynamos couldn’t score again as the visitors showed their qualities in defence and in the end it proved to be a fruitless final fourteen minutes for the Dynamos.
So the season ends here for a Dynamos side that will be disappointed not to have come away with anything from a season that promised so much.
Parrish will now spend the coming weeks and months evaluating where it went wrong and plotting what his roster will look like for when the season begins again in September.
