The Invicta Dynamos celebrated a fantastic season in style with their Player of the Year awards staged on Friday night.
Having picked up the NIHL Southern Cup and been runners up in both the league and the play-offs, Kevin Parrish’s side came together one last time before the summer to celebrate with fans at Upchurch’s River Valley Golf Club.
Coming out in their numbers to celebrate such a successful season, fans got the chance to pass on their congratulations to the whole roster with the players all there to thank everyone for the support they have been shown over the campaign.
There was to be a special presentation to forward Andy Smith who went past 1,000 points for the club this season, whilst Callum Fowler took the first award of the night, claiming the Supporters’ Player of the Year award in memory of fan Christopher Rushton who sadly passed away last year.
It was Arran Strawson that took the honours when Defenceman of the Year was announced, with stiff competition from the likes of Billy Phillips, Elliott Dewey and Adam McNicoll, whilst Head Coach Kevin Parrish gave special praise to his three netminders; Mark Lee, Mark McGill and Steve Nightingale.
After a prolific season in front of goal, it was import Juraj Huska that claimed the Forward of the Year award, beating off stiff competition from both Smith and Fowler.
However, Fowler wasn’t to be denied another award though as he was to take the prestigious Player of the Year award after a successful season.
The next award of the night was Kevin Parrish’s Player of the Year and that went to the versatile Nicky Lewis after another season playing in all manner of positions for the Dynamos.
Fittingly, it was captain Anthony Leone that took the final award of the evening, taking away the Players’ Player of the Year award after leading his side to their first silverware in five seasons.
