Dynamos bring in new defenceman

The Invicta Dynamos have confirmed the capture of 30 year old defenceman Tyrone Miller from the Streatham Redskins.

Head Coach Kevin Parrish has decided to bolster his defensive ranks following the release of Tom Avery.

Londoner Tyrone Miller first appeared as a senior player for the Guildford Flames in the British National League (BNL) before joining the Romford Raiders in the EPL during the 2000/01 campaign. It was then here that he would make his name, and his home, as he spent the majority of the next eleven seasons icing at Rom Valley Way whilst also enjoying minor stints with the Chelmsford Chieftains, Bracknell Bees and Slough Jets.

A decade of no nonsense performances in the EPL would see him earn a reputation as a strong, hard hitting blue liner who was composed on the puck and uncompromising in challenging for it. When he then dropped into the NIHL with the Raiders in 2010/11, Miller was naturally one of the most sought after defenceman in the division and he would play an important role as Romford swept their way to the league and cup title the following term.

Come the start of 2012/13, he was then finally tempted away from Rom Valley Way with the Streatham Redskins securing his services but, after ten appearances for the South London outfit, he will now make Gillingham his home following his release by mutual consent by coach Warren Rost.

Speaking on the capture of defenceman Tyrone Miller, Head Coach Kevin Parrish declared that he was pleased to have completed the signing and highlighted what he thought his latest acquisition would bring to the team.

Parrish said, “Tyrone is one of the most highly rated blue liners in the division and I’m delighted to finally be bringing him to Gillingham. He has excellent strength, a physical presence, the ability to deliver huge momentum changing hits, great composure on the puck and a good positional sense and he would be an excellent addition to any NIHL side.”

“On top of that his years of experience in the game means that he has seen it all and done it all before and he knows what it takes to be successful. I am confident that his arrival will add to the squad and I’m sure the supporters will quickly take to his no nonsense displays”.

Tyrone Miller will be available to take to the ice this weekend and, in an ironic twist of fate, should make his home debut against his former side, the Streatham Redskins, on Sunday evening. Faceoff in Gillingham is at the usual time of 5.15pm for what will be the team’s second outing in as many days following a road trip to Cardiff to take on the NIHL Devils the night before.
