The Invicta Dynamos have bolstered their defence for the 2017/18 campaign with the capture of blue liner George Hoang who signs for the Mos on a two-way deal with the Guildford under 18s.
George Hoang is a product of the Guildford junior setup having risen through the ranks in Surrey whilst also representing Great Britain on the international stage at under 16s level.
Last term, despite being just 16, the defenceman was an alternate captain for the Guildford Phoenix under 18s where he managed 19 goals and 6 assists for 25 points in 19 outings. In the same season he also featured for the Guildford Fire Kings under 20s where he made an additional 15 appearances and scored 8 times whilst playing a hand in 10 more for a tally of 18 points.
Away from domestic competition, 2016/17 further saw George Hoang selected to represent Great Britain under 16s and he played 3 times whilst claiming 7 points as the side featured in competition in Dumfries before dressing a further 5 times on the road in Melnik, Bulgaria.
Now the very promising skater arrives in Kent for a taste of senior hockey and he will split his time between the Invicta Dynamos in the NIHL South Division 1 and the Guildford under 18s.
Speaking on the signing of George Hoang, Head Coach Kevin Parrish said, “George is a player with huge potential who is ready to make his mark in senior hockey. Despite his youth he has a strong pedigree and has performed well at junior level beyond his age group and on the international stage.”
“George will play in defence for the Dynamos but he has previously shown he has an eye for a pass as well as a goal and I’m confident that he will be up to the challenge of the NIHL South Division 1. He’s a determined player, with an excellent work rate and I look forward to working with him throughout 2017/18”.
George Hoang is the sixth defenceman to be signed by the club ahead of the new season following the return of Ondrej Zosiak, Tommy Ralph, Arran Strawson and Harrison Lillis and the signing of former Chelmsford man Ryan Morgan.
The young blue liner will take over the number 20 jersey when he dresses for the Dynamos in the new season that is set to get underway in early September.
