The Invicta Dynamos player count for the 2012/13 season has today reached four with the news that Head Coach Kevin Parrish has secured the return of 22 year old defenceman Jack Tarczycki.
Tarczycki’s signing comes on the back of the news that forward Peter Vaisenen will also be returning to play for the Invicta Dynamos.
After progressing through the ranks in Streatham, and rising to the EPL with the Bracknell Bees, blue liner Jack Tarczycki first appeared in Gillingham in the summer of 2008 as Head Coach Kevin Parrish secured his signature from the Berkshire outfit in the off-season.
During his debut year in Kent, the resilient defenceman then made 42 appearances and became a key figure for the team as they swept their way to the ENIHL Southern and National Titles. His good form prompted a return the following year and, in 38 outings, he notched 17 points as the Dynamos again went on to scoop the Southern Championship.
However, 2010/11 would see Tarczycki opt to go back to his roots as he rejoined his junior club – the Streatham Redskins – to see out their final campaign at their historic High Road venue. By now though the blue liner had made Gillingham his home and he switched back to Kent mid-season before agreeing an extension for 2011/12. 44 appearances and 23 points later, the dogged blue liner has once more committed his future to Medway and he will don the Dynamos jersey again as the team competes in the NIHL South Division 1.
Speaking on the return of Defenceman Jack Tarczycki, Head Coach Kevin Parrish revealed he was pleased to have the skater back at his disposal and that he saw him as a key figure in the team’s rear guard.
Parrish said, “Jack would be an excellent signing for any club in the NIHL so naturally we are very pleased that he keeps returning to the Dynamos. He plays a big role for us at the back as he commands the defensive third, provides a good physical presence and throws himself in front of anything and everything to defend our goal. Every side needs dedicated players if they’re to succeed at this level and Jack will do anything required, without hesitation, for the crest on the front of the jersey”.
Parrish then suggested there might yet still be more to come from the skater when he added, “Jack is one of those players that has been with us for a few years now and seems to have been around forever. Nevertheless he is still only 22, has plenty of time left in the game in front of him and continues to develop season on season. We’re very pleased that the next of those seasons will still be spent with us in Gillingham”.
Invicta Dynamos number 15 Jack Tarczycki now joins fellow defenceman Tim Smith, returning ‘import’ Peter Vaisanen and newcomer Brad Watchorn on the roster ahead of the 2012/13 campaign with further signings to be revealed in the near future.
Ontario born Canadian forward Peter Vaisanen penned a contract to return to Kent for 2012/13 after just two seasons away from the club.
Before arriving in the UK for the start of the 2009/10 campaign, Peter Vaisanen had risen through the junior ranks back across the Atlantic having spent three years in the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League (OPJHL) and four in the NCAA III.
He appeared in Kent as a relative unknown this side of the pond hoping to make a name for himself but signed with a reputation for leadership, having worn the ‘A’ of alternate captain for the Potsdam Bears in 2008/09, and an excellent work ethic, having been voted the hardest working player in his time with the Neumann Knights. Following the first puck drop in September 2009, the Vaisanen name was then quickly learnt throughout the ENIHL South Division 1 as the Canadian born forward took little time to settle in and found the net 11 times in his first 5 fixtures.
He would show little signs of slowing down over the remainder of the campaign and he completed the 2009/10 season with 56 goals, 54 assists and so 110 points from 38 outings. His high rate of return saw him finish the year leading the list of the ENIHL’s top scorers and helped the Dynamos claim the Southern Title.
After becoming a fans’ favourite in Gillingham, and helping his club reclaim league honours, Peter Vaisanen stepped up to the EPL in the summer of 2010 as the Sheffield Steeldogs offered him a chance to impress in the league above. Unfortunately the forward would see his season cut short as, after 5 goals, 4 assists and so 9 points from 13 fixtures, he suffered a serious shoulder injury that saw him return home for surgery and six months of recuperation.
In 2011/12 Vaisanen, who also has a Finish passport, was then back on the ice and seized the opportunity to complete a lifetime ambition by lacing up his skates in Finland for Lämärit in Kemi. Appearing in the yellow and black of his new side he completed a successful try-out before eventually making a total of 34 appearances and grabbing 12 goals and 4 assists for 16 points. Now though, after a two year absence, the robust forward has opted to return to the UK and back to the Invicta Dynamos.
Speaking on the re-signing of 27 year old Peter Vaisanen Head Coach Kevin Parrish revealed he was delighted to have got his man and that he was looking forward to working with his new attack minded ‘import’ once again.
Parrish said, “To have Vas back with the club is a huge boost and a real sign of our ambitions for 2012/13. Vas is the perfect player – he’s a consummate professional, leaves everything on the ice, is a great guy to have in the dressing room and does all you ask of him. On top of this he has great ability and, in his first year here, he played a major role in bringing silverware to Gillingham – hopefully something we can achieve again this time around”.
Parrish then commented on what he thought Vaisanen would bring to his side when he added, “Obviously from an ‘import’ forward you want goals but Vas takes more than that to the ice. He never quits, he hits like a freight train and he instantly gives the team momentum. When you think you’re down and out he can produce that piece of quality that keeps you in the hunt”.
Finally the coach revealed that his Canadian acquisition was raring to go when he said, “In 2009/10 Vas’ attitude and performances made him a fans’ favourite and I’ve no doubt our supporters welcome him back with open arms but he is just as excited to get going again. When he left us in 2010 he said that if he ever came back to the UK it would be to wear a Dynamos jersey and we are more than happy to have him back here, at his home from home”.
