Tristan Lewis and Simon Walton have had their caretaker roles in charge of Maidstone United extended until at least until the end of the month.Bill Williams, the Stones Chief Executive, told the club’s official website: “Tristan and Simon have done well since stepping up a fortnight ago and we’ve asked them to continue in that caretaker capacity. They have the backing of the Board and I for one hope they will build on these first few games and get us moving up that league table.”
Two wins from their first three games in charge saw the pair get the backing of the club’s directors as they prepare to face Oxford City in the FA Trophy at the Gallagher on Saturday – a game that potentially is the first of three home games for the Stones in a week, with Maidenhead United (subject to any FA Trophy replay) and Dagenham & Redbridge due to visit before the month finishes with a trip to Dartford in the Kent Senior Cup and to league leaders Leyton Orient on January 26th.
The duo took over after the Boxing Day defeat at Crabble when Harry Wheeler’s three and a half months in charge came to an end. By the end of January, the directors intend to consider all their options and will make a further announcement.
