Two of Kent Cricket’s bright young stars Jaydn Denly and Ben Dawkins have been selected for the England U19s training camp in South Africa next month
The squad was announced this morning and it represents an excellent chance for both young players to get some further international exposure.
Wicketkeeper-batter Dawkins has made four appearances for the Young Lions this calendar year, averaging 70.75 with the bat and scoring 107 against Scotland Under 19s back in September.
Denly featured in England U19s’ Youth Test Series against Sri Lanka in July, scoring 91 in England’s second innings in the second Youth Test to propel the hosts to a victory by an innings and 53 runs.
Denly recently committed his future to Kent Cricket by signing a contract extension that will run until at least the end of the 2026 season.
The 18-strong squad will train in Stellenbosch from 25 November to 16 December as preparation for the upcoming series against South Africa Men U19s in January and February 2025.
