Welling’s evening match woes struck again as they went down in the F.A. Trophy at Dulwich Hamlet.
Having lost three out of three night games in the league, they again came second best under floodlights.
The hosts started the quickest and almost scored from their first attack. Dan Wilks made an excellent save from Nyren Clunis but it came out to Anthony Cook who netted but from an offside position.
However, in their next attack, Dulwich scored one that counted. Ashley Carew’s free kick was headed back by Michael Chambers and Nathan Green finished from close range.
Danny Mills had a shot deflected wide before Welling levelled. Montel Agyemang found Richard Orlu from a corner and he fired his volley home.
Another Agyemang delivery found Matt Paterson at the far post and he headed back across goal but Brendan Kiernan was unable to hook goalwards from a tight angle.
After the interval, Welling came out strongly but two big decisions went against them. Magnus Okuonghae, having already been cautioned, hacked Nassim L’Ghoul to the ground but the referee failed to take the appropriate action in showing him a yellow card.
Then Cheick Toure manhandled Mills to the ground in the penalty area right in front of the assistant referee but again no action was taken.
Preston Edwards punched out a Kiernan shot unconvincingly then Ibrahim Kargbo made a good block to thwart Paterson before Dulwich manager Gavin Rose made a double substitution that paid immediate dividends.
Sanchez Ming broke down the right wing before picking out substitute Dipo Akinyemi for a simple finish.
It might have been worse for Welling had John Paul Kissock not made a brave block from a Dominic Vose shot.
But it made no difference as Welling were unable to craft another real chance.
