After a long winter of waiting, Kent Kings fans finally have their first confirmed meeting at Central Park when the 2015 American Dream Team come to Kent.
The visiting side will be made up of some of the top young stateside speedway talent with a mix of some more experienced racers in the team as well.
This will be the second time the team will be racing in Kent, in 2005, their inaugural year they travelled to Sittingbourne and the track holds a special place in the teams history after they recorded their first competitive win there a decade ago. The two teams have their own history as in 2013 the American team returned to Central Park for the Kings’ first ever meet. This year the Dream Team’s return will be on the 13th of April, meaning it will be Kent’s second meeting of the new year after an Easter Monday meet against an unconfirmed side.
With their complete schedule yet to be released, King’s fans will finally be able to feel the 2015 season edge closer but it isn’t just the team on this side of the Atlantic, founder of the Dream Team, California-based Steve Evans is relishing the meeting “We’re really looking forward to returning to Kent in April. We were the opponents for the first-ever meeting at the track in 2013, but on that occasion unfortunately injuries decimated our squad – so though we took the victory it was without a number of the American riders we had brought over with us on that tour”
So far for this tenth anniversary trip to the UK, we have named five riders. 16-year-old Broc Nicol was sixth in the AMA National series and is highly related. Rocco Scopellite and the New Zealand-born Hayden Sims return from the 2013 team. Hayden scored paid ten at that opening meeting at Central Park. Rookie 17 year old Dalton Leedy will fill a reserve berth alongside 17 year old female rider Hayley Perrault. We are very excited and hope to bring some American style showman, and even show-womanship to Central Park!”
Haley Perrault will make history as the first female speedway racer at Central Park since the stadium opened in 1990.
The USA Dream Team are visiting a number of tracks in the UK on this latest tour as well as taking on teams in Sweden and Denmark.
The US side will be at Central Park on April 13th with the meet beginning at the usual time of 6:30pm.
