Medway Dragons have announced the appointment of Mark Roughsedge as the clubs new Head Coach with immediate effect.
John Stanforth, Club Chairman, confirmed the appointment at the monthly meeting of the Club’s Management team and was delighted to congratulate Mark on his successful application.
Chairman Stanforth stated, “ The appointment of Mark is another step forward in developing the club and continuing the journey that started only five seasons ago. As Medway’s Sporting Club of the Year we want to push forward with our development, and having the right people as part of the structure and organisation is key to that process.”
“I am sure that Mark’s enthusiasm and love of the game combined with his coaching skills and leadership will be a very positive contribution to our overall vision and roadmap for the future, and I am personally delighted to offer Mark this very key and significant role within the set up of Medway Dragons. The whole club wish him every success for the future”.
Mark has built up his experience of coaching and player development through a number of roles within the Southern Region of the RFL and has an impressive track record along the way, including working as a Community coach within South London, the running of Croydon Hurricanes, Scholarship Coach for London Broncos and South Origin U16s Head coach.
Over and above this Mark is also very heavily involved in the development of Wheelchair Rugby League and undertakes the role of Head Coach for the England Wheelchair Development Squad and Assistant Coach England Wheelchair RL.
He also is currently working as the RFL Community Rugby League Coach for Kent and Medway, and is working towards his Level 3 coaching qualification. Having hailed from Warrington Mark is Rugby League through and through and will ensure the spirit of ‘The Greatest Game’ will be evident in the Medway Dragons playing style on and off the pitch.
