Dover Athletic v Welling Utd preview

Having finally ended the F.A. Trophy saga with Ebbsfleet United, with all the shenanigans surrounding it, Welling United can now look to move forward.

Dover v Bromley

New manager Jody Brown chose to keep a low profile for this match and allowed Loui Fazakerley to run proceedings. He will take charge for the first time at Dover Athletic along with his assistant Glen Little.

They will need to squeeze out as many points as possible in the next few matches before they can start recruiting when the transfer window opens.

Tyrone Marsh turned 20 on Christmas Eve, so his youth loan status has now ended and he has departed. Fortunately for Brown, Charlie Penny appears to have recovered from his injury and will be keen to start. Joe Healy missed the Trophy game with illness but will hope to be well enough to travel to the Crabble.

Whites manager Chris Kinnear was also in the stand for the Trophy match and was probably happy to see the game head into extra time.

Last Saturday’s draw at Altrincham extended Dover’s unbeaten run in all competitions to 13 matches. It has taken them out of the relegation zone and leaves them ten points clear and looking up the league rather than towards the trap door.

There will be a buzz around the Crabble with tickets on sale for their forthcoming F.A. Cup match with Crystal Palace, and there should be a healthy gate for the festive season fixture.

However Kinnear and his team will only have the immediate game on their minds. Welling are only one point behind so the Whites will want to ensure there are no slip ups.
