An Inih Effiong double made it 15 for the season for the striker as Dover ran riot at Crabble to move into the playoff positions.
Earlier in the day, Dover boss Andy Hessenthaler made four changes from their midweek 1-0 defeat to Barrow with Paul Rooney, Ricky Modeste, Dominic Poleon and Nassim L’Ghoul coming in for Kevin Lokko, Jai Reason, Bobby-Joe Taylor and Steve Rigg.
Although Dover were lively early on, it was Fylde who took the lead inside the first ten minutes from the penalty spot after Aaron Simpson had deemed to have handled the ball in the area. Tom Walker stepped up and slotted the penalty home to give Fylde the early lead.
After the goal, Fylde sat back and allowed Dover to try and break them down. Whites’ first significant chance came just before the half hour when Poleon received the ball at the edge of the box, but his shot was deflected into the path of the goalkeeper.
However shortly after, Poleon did get his first goal for Whites. The Newport loanee was able to get on the end of a cross by Modeste to slot home going in the bottom corner via the post from eight yards out.
Dover completed the first half comeback just before the end of the half with a penalty of their own after Lewis Montrose hauled down Rooney in the box. Whites’ top scorer Inih Effiong stepped up to take it and put the ball down the middle to give Dover a half time lead.
Fylde went close to levelling in the 53rd minute through a corner from Walker, which was flicked on by Tyler French, but Jamie Proctor couldn’t direct the ball into the net.
Another chance came and went for Fylde when Mark Yeates ran down the right hand side and was able to get the ball into a dangerous position, but Ashley Maynard-Brewer was able to get to the ball before Jordan Williams.
Effiong then had a great chance to double Dover’s lead after combining with Modeste to be put through on goal, but Sam Hornby in the Fylde goal made himself big to make the save.
Shortly after, Ade Yusuff reacted quickest to double Dover’s tally as Rooney was once again fouled in the penalty area. From the resulting penalty, Effiong’s strike was saved, but the substitute got to the ball first to slot home.
Effiong then did double his tally in the 78th minute after slotting past Hornby after being put through one on one with the Fylde goalkeeper.
Bobby-Joe Taylor made it five in the 89th minute after a cross found its way to the substitute who tapped home from close range.
