Dover Athletic Football Club have announced their new main sponsor for the 2012-13 season.
Gomez, the Canterbury based fresh produce company will be entering into a 5 figure sponsorship deal with the club.
Gomez, who have provided sponsorship and other support to Whites in the past have stepped up their commitment to the local community in the past year and will be providing sponsorship well in excess of previous deals. The sponsorship is initially for one year.
Chairman Jim Parmenter, who is also partner and Managing Director at Gomez said:” As one of the largest employers in the area it is important that Gomez are active in the community as well as connecting with potential employees in and around Dover.
“We see this sponsorship deal as an important part of our strategy to ‘put something back’. Although we’re based near Canterbury a large part of our workforce resides in the Dover district and as we grow we will continue to highlight employment opportunities through our sponsorship of Dover Athletic.
“Company projects in the near future will hopefully provide substantial employment directly in the Dover district as well as at our Canterbury HQ . ”
The Gomez brand will be present around the ground and out in the community, alongside Dover Athletic. The first team kits will also carry to Gomez Logo.
One area which will not carry the Gomez Brand is the name of the stadium. For the first time in 10 years the stadium will be know officially as simply ‘Crabble’.
Jim Parmenter said “Although the stadium naming rights are a valuable part of any sponsorship package we recognise that Dover Athletic has strong historical roots in the community which have perhaps become lost a little in the mist of time .
“We believe that re-instating the original stadium name officially and not taking the naming rights will demonstrate an understanding of the clubs history whilst investing in it’s future ”
Gomez’s business has been growing significantly year on year and has been a provider of employment In the local area since bringing its headquarters to Kent in 1989. The company is looking to expand further in the coming year and hopes to provide more employment specifically in the Dover District, as well as at is headquarters in Canterbury.
