Double swoop on the cards?
Double swoop on the cards?

Flying winger, Chris Eagles, has been the subject of speculation over the past day or so.Chris Eagles

Eagles linked up with the Addicks at their Nottingham base prior to Tuesday’s game with Forest.

Eagles was taken to Burnley by Owen Coyle and followed the Scotsman to Bolton and was a virtual ever present in Coyle’s teams.

Since Coyle was replaced by Dougie Freedman, Eagles has not played so regularly. Freedman plays a more pragmatic game and prefers the more solid Neil Danns.

Eagles is now 28 and his contract at the Reebok expires in the summer. He is one of the higher earners on the Bolton payroll and is likely to move on when his contract runs out.

The deal is far from complete and the chances of it happening appeared to be receding on Wednesday.

A deal for Manchester United’s Italian central midfielder, Davide Petrucci, looks more likely to happen. United signed the 22-year-old from Roma and he has had loan spells at Peterborough and Royal Antwerp.

Clearly the Addicks are looking to add some class to their squad and it remains to be seen whether they can land their top two targets before the loan window closes on Thursday.

With little time remaining, it could be that they may have to switch their attention to alternate options if either deal stalls.
