The Invicta Dynamos have added two more players to their roster ahead of the weekend with the signings of experienced defenceman and long-time servant of the club Peter Beerling and 23 year old Scottish netminder Mark McGill.

Blue liner Peter Beerling returns to line-up having last featured for the side during the 2013/14 campaign during which he donned the Dynamos jersey a total of 41 times.

2 goals and 14 assists provided the skater with 16 points for the season while he also accrued a minimal 26 minutes of penalties. Beerling previously iced for the Mos between 2003 and 2005 before later returning to the line-up for 2011/12 whilst he has also appeared in the NIHL South Division 2 for the Invicta Mustangs.

Speaking on the return of Peter Beerling, Head Coach Kevin Parrish said, “Peter has stepped in for us before and is an experienced and assured head to be able to put back on the blue line.”

“He does a good job with minimal fuss and is exactly the sort of character we need in the changing room as we head into the end of 2014/15.”

“He keeps the play simple and, with 177 appearances for the Dynamos already behind him, he knows exactly what this club is all about. It may take a few games to get him fully up to speed but I’m very pleased to have Peter back on the roster and look forward to working with him again”.

McGill, a former teammate of forward Adam McNicoll, hails from Broxburn near Edinburgh and arrives in Gillingham having appeared in the Elite League for both the Edinburgh Capitals and Dundee Stars.

More recently the netminder spent a stint with the Solway Sharks in the NIHL North before joining the Dundee Comets in the Scottish National League towards the end of last season where he finished with a save percentage of 93.5 from 8 outings between the posts.

His efforts helped the side finish the campaign with the second best defensive record despite a fourth placed finish and in 2014/15 he has continued to impress when featuring with a save rate of 93.9%.

Now he will be looking to match those statistics south of the border as he flies down to Kent to join the Dynamos at the Silver Blades Gillingham.

Speaking on the capture of Mark McGill Head Coach Kevin Parrish said, “Mark joins us having already sampled game day and the more rigorous training of the Elite League in his career and I’m sure that experience will prove invaluable as he looks to make an impression in the NIHL South.”

“Having played in front of large crowds at a higher level he will be used to the pressure that comes with his position and will offer us an assured set of hands with Mark Lee unable to commit to every fixture.”

“He is already keen to get going and, as a former teammate of Adam McNicoll, is having little trouble settling in with the side. I’m sure all the supporters will join me in welcoming Mark to Gillingham and we look forward to him making his debut in the near future”.

The signing of Mark McGill has seen Aaron Craft make way with the Dynamos still holding a netminder trio now made up of McGill, Steve Nightingale and Mark Lee.

The side will next be in action this Saturday as they host the Milton Keynes Thunder in Gillingham with faceoff at the normal time of 5.15pm.
