It was unlucky 13 for Invicta as they went into this game on the back of a 12 game unbeaten run, but were beaten by a lively Dorking Wanderers side and suffered their second defeat on their only two visits to the Westhumble Community ground on Saturday.
They trailed 3-1 at half to goals from the highly-rated James McShane and Giuseppe Sole either side of an excellent free-kick from Invicta midfielder Sam Hasler.
Joe Taylor, recalled in place of Ian Draycott following Thursday’s 4-4 draw at Staines, pulled one back soon after half-time but Lewis Putman restored the home side’s two goal lead when he made it 4-2 on 75 minutes.
Ronnie Dolan’s second goal in as many games gave Folkestone hope and the next goal was vital.
But it came from Dorking substitute Tom Tolfrey as this time Folkestone’s share of eight goals was the lesser one and they came away with only disappointment that it had been primarily their own errors that had cost them this game.
Other results saw the top two in the table go further ahead while, of the five other play-off contenders below Invicta in the table, sixth placed Leiston were the only winners on the day.
