Disappointment for Jamun at Brands
Disappointment for Jamun at Brands

Unfortunately it was disappointment for Rochester based Jamun Racing in the opening race of the British Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain this afternoon.Dan Cammish leads the way at Brands

After a strong qualifying showing hopes would have been high of going on to perform just as strongly in the opening race.

Luke Williams led the team home with a strong fifth place finish, despite being in second place in the early stages of the race. Nico Maranzana came home in sixth place for Jamun and he now leads the Scholarship class, finishing a second clear of his nearest rival.

It was a disappointing opening race for returning driver Scott Malvern who retired on lap 15 with power problems, having been holding his own in third place.

There can be no surprise that the winner of the race was Dan Cammish who led from the moment the lights went out to when the chequered flag was waved. It underlines that he is the driver to be beaten this weekend at Brands Hatch, having led the way in testing and qualifying.

Speaking after the first race, Williams said: ““I started well and the car felt good but about half way through the tyres just went.

“We are massively down on straight line speed so I had to push really hard around the corners, which ruined the tyres meaning we were just a sitting duck.”

The top six finished as below:

  1. Dan Cammish
  2. Camren Kaminsky
  3. George Blundell
  4. Lassi Halminen
  5. Luke Williams
  6. Nico Maranzana

Races two and three of the opening round of the season take place tomorrow as part of the British Touring Car coverage. Race one at 11:00am will be featured live on ITV4 as part of this coverage, race two will be at 5:45pm.
