Disappointment for Heathcote at Pembrey
Disappointment for Heathcote at Pembrey

Nathan Heathcote had a disappointing weekend at the first visit to Pembrey Race Circuit for the Swift Rallycross Championship.British Rallycross Championship 2015 - Round 2, 6th April

The 18-year-old was competing in round three of the season and hoping to build on the podium he earned at Croft and the solid points he scored at his home circuit of Lydden Hill.

During the days three heats Heathcote gradually settled in and qualified 5th fastest overall which secured him a place on the second row just behind the current Swift’s champion Tristan Ovenden.

Heathcote made a great start and edged between the two cars in front of him, unfortunately he clipped one of them on his way past. This sent him up into the air (other drivers reported seeing the underside of Heathcotes car pass them!).Nathan Heathcote - Pembury - Rubberduck 1

This, unfortunately for Heathcote, resulted in a red flag which would also signal the end of racing for him.

Speaking after an unfortunate weekend Heathcote, said: “I started the day with good pace and kept on improving. I had high hopes of a podium finish but unfortunately a mistake at the start of the final ended my day prematurely. But that’s Rallycross I suppose. Lessons learnt and hopefully I can do better next time”

The championship now heads to Mondello Park in Ireland for a double header on 27th and 28th June.
