Kent have named an unchanged side for their LV= County Championship match away at Derbyshire following their win against Surrey.

Head coach Jimmy Adams has kept faith with the same XI who picked up Kent’s first win of the season, with Matt Hunn set to return from injury to take on 12th man duties.

Captain Rob Key and Brendan Nash both hit centuries in Kent’s first innings of the win against Surrey, while off-spinner Adam Riley took match figures of 9-155 to help the side to an eight-wicket win.

Speaking about the squad that was selected, Adams said:  “The lads were very pleased to register their first home win this week.

“Although Key, Nash and Riley stood out it was very much a team performance with important contributions from the entire team.”

The squad selection also sees Adam Ball retain his place in the side, having replaced Robbie Joseph in the starting XI for the Surrey game.

Like this week’s opponents Surrey, Derbyshire were relegated from Division One last season. The home side have not had the best start to the season, losing their first game against Essex, before drawing with Hampshire and then suffering a heavy defeat at Worcestershire.

Derbyshire have announced today that their wicket-keeper Tom Poynton will not feature for them this season. Poynton is recovering from injuries sustained in a car crash that tragically claimed the life of his father Keith in April, and saw the county’s first game of the season postponed. They have brought in Gareth Cross, released by Lancashire last season, as cover behind the stumps.

The Derbyshire side is likely to feature a number of experienced faces however, including captain Wayne Madsen and West Indian international Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who has played nearly 450 international matches for his country.

Kent have failed to win at Derby since 2000, with Derbyshire recording a two-wicket win in their last encounter; a close fought match in 2012.

The match will get underway at the County Ground at 11am this Sunday morning – 11 May.

Derbyshire squad to face Kent: Moore, Borrington, Madsen, Chanderpaul, Elstone, A.Hughes, Cross, Wainwright, Palladino, Groenewald, Footitt, Taylor.
