Day three of Kent’s County Championship game away at Derbyshire was once again abandoned without a ball being bowled.
After the whole of the first day had been washed out, 52.3 overs were possible on the second day yesterday. After a bright start in Derby this morning had led to hopes of more play being possible, the rain began shortly before proceedings were due to get underway, with the players never even able to take to the field.
Play was eventually called off for the day at around 3.40pm.
Kent took control of the match in the time that was available yesterday, dismissing the home side for just 118 as Darren Stevens and Doug Bollinger both took five-fors. However, the game looks set to be heading to an inevitable draw with just the one day’s possible play now remaining.
Kent have already managed to take the maximum three bowling points in the time that has been available. However, how many batting points they are able to accrue could once again depend on how many overs are possible on the fourth and final day, with more rain currently being forecast.
