Steve McClaren has overseen a dramatic transformation since his arrival at the Pride Park.Derby County

The Rams have cemented a place in the play-off zone under his stewardship, albeit that there has been a dip in form recently.

Last Saturday’s 5-0 thrashing of Nottingham Forest is the the only win McClaren’s side have gained in their last six outings. They have drawn two and lost three of their other fixtures, the latest being a 2-1 reverse at Ipswich on Tuesday.

The main threat to the Charlton rear guard will come from on-loan Chelsea striker, Patrick Bamford.

Jose Riga’s team selection will be influenced by the recovery levels of those involved at the City Ground on Tuesday.

Dorian Dervite had to be replaced by Richard Wood at half-time but Riga will be hoping to have all his defenders available. Even if Dervite is fit, the head coach may decide to play safe and stick with Wood. Otherwise he is likely to go with the same defence.

Riga will have to decide whether Johnnie Jackson needs a breather. The skipper played deeper at Forest, allowing Jordan Cousins to play further forward.

Astrit Ajdarevic had a fine game on Tuesday and new signing, Davide Petrucci, will come into the reckoning though he may be introduced from the bench.

Riga is still trying to find his best pairing up front and may try Marvin Sordell with Jonathan Obika this time.

Charlton could line-up like this:

Hamer; Wilson, Morrison, Wood, Wiggins; Cousins, Poyet, Jackson, Ajdarevic; Obika, Sordell.

Subs: Thuram-Ulien, Nego, Dervite, Green, Petrucci, Ghoochannejhad, Pigott.

The referee will be Mark Heywood from Cheshire.

The Rams will be hot favourites to win but buoyed by Tuesday’s win, Charlton will be hopeful of getting some kind of result.
