Denly commits future to Kent

Kent Cricket have announced that left-hander Jaydn Denly has signed a two-year contract extension.

After graduating from the Kent Cricket Academy, Denly made his full debut in August 2023, hitting his first ball for four against Surrey in the Metro Bank One Day Cup and bowling a wicket maiden in his first foray in the first-team with the ball.

He has since featured for Kent in both first-class & List A cricket, scoring 330 runs and taking nine wickets so far with his left-arm spin.

In April, he showed great composure to score 41* from 128 deliveries against an extremely potent Essex bowling attack to secure Kent a draw on his first-class debut, and followed it up with 47 from 33 deliveries against Bedfordshire in a National County Match.

On extending his Kent contract, Denly said: “I’ve absolutely loved playing for Kent after progressing through our Talent Pathway and I’m hungry to progress further heading into 2025 and further.

“It’s an extremely welcoming group we have here and I now feel very much like a part of the team. I’m aiming to continue to get better with both bat and ball in all formats and put good performances in for my homey county.”

Kent’s Director of Cricket, Simon Cook, said: “Jaydn is a top prospect and by making the step up to the first team, he has shown that he already has the skill to make an impact for us in the near future.

“I know our Members and supporters value the work we are doing in improving our Talent Pathway, and to get us back to a stage where a Kent team is a majority of homegrown talent.

“There are more exciting prospects coming down the line for us, and Jaydn can now show these players that there is a clear path to getting into the first team through hard work.”
