It’s an Invicta Dynamos return for homegrown hotshot Owen Dell with the 19 year old returning to the side where he tallied 39 points in 40 games during 2019/20.
Owen Dell is one of the brightest prospects to rise from the Invicta youth setup in recent years and, having progressed quickly through the junior ranks, he has continued his speedy development since making his senior debut for the Dynamos in 2018/19. That season a 16 year old Dell found his feet despite featuring for the Mos as they now competed in British ice hockey’s second tier and he played 37 games, scored 8 goals, claimed 4 assists and so finished with 12 points. He would also appear for the Invicta Mustangs in the NIHL South Division 2 and the Invicta Colts under 18s.
Dell was swiftly re-signed for the 2019/20 campaign and, with a combination of the Dynamos being placed at a more competitive level and the benefit of a full year of senior hockey now under his belt, the forward went on to excel. In 40 appearances across all competitions, Dell found the target 24 times and claimed 15 assists for 39 points. Only Slovakian forward Juraj Huska and Player-Coach Anthony Leone tallied more goals for the team and just five other players amassed a greater points total. Now the young skater is back hoping to impress again as he commits to pulling on his home town shirt for another campaign.
Speaking on his return to the Dynamos, Owen Dell said, “Coming back to Invicta is an easy decision for me. As a player you only have to think about the atmosphere in our rink on game days and it calls you back. Invicta is my home club and it is an honour to have the opportunity to spend another season here”.
Asked about his good form before the lengthy Covid enforced break Dell then added, “The 2019/20 season was an exciting time for the club as it was the start of a new era and it was also a strong year for me personally. But I feel like I’m improving each term and that the best is still to come. The Covid break was tough for everyone and I think the fact that hockey is finally coming back will now allow everyone to get excited about things again. I hope the fans are ready for a long but exciting season and fingers crossed we can get some silverware to make the long wait worth it.”
Player-Coach Anthony Leone was equally pleased having secured his latest signing adding, “Owen had a very strong season in the NIHL in 2019/20 successfully transitioning from a promising talent to consistently delivering in front of net in terms of goals and assists. It was great to see and I’ve no doubt that if he continues to work hard he will only get better. He has all the tools to be an excellent player and one of the better Brits in the division. I feel this is going to be another big year for Owen and I look forward to working with him again in 2021/22.”
Owen Dell will make a switch to the number 34 jersey for the Invicta Dynamos in 2021/22.
