James Degale will be looking to defend his European Super-Middleweight title in style at Glow Bluewater on Saturday.
The 2008 Olympic Champion is back in the ring for only his second fight in a year as he defends his title against France’s Hadillah Mohoumadi with the event to be broadcast live on Channel Five.
The 26 year old has seen his career stagnate since splitting with former promoter Frank Warren, but is hoping a new lease of life under Hennessy Sports will see him get his boxing career back on track:
“I really can’t wait to get back in the ring.”
“It’s been a frustrating year but I’ve put that behind me and it’s exciting because now I’m making a fresh start.”
“The main thing is that I’m going to be busy. The plan is to defend my title this weekend and then fight again in December.”
“To be the European champion and have one fight in 12 months is crazy, so it’s been very frustrating, and all the rubbish outside the ring with Frank Warren drove me mad.”
He added: “I’d fight for a world title next week, I’m so confident in my ability to mix it with the top boys. But realistically this time next year I want to be a world champion.”
“But I’ve been professional and kept dedicated, and I’m just excited that I’ve signed this deal with Mick Hennessy and I’m on terrestrial television with Channel 5.”
Degale is the headline act for the evening of entertainment with Chris Eubank Junior and Kid Galahad also set to feature.
Meanwhile, Hoo fighter Adam Dingsdale is expected to have plenty of home support as he takes on Ibrar Ryaz.
The 24 year old, who boasts a record of four wins from four will be looking to extend his unbeaten run in the lightweight contest.
