Central defence was the part of the team where Charlton had the most cover at the beginning of the season.
Jason Pearce, Patrick Bauer, Jorge Teixeira, Harry Lennon, Roger Johnson and Ezri Konsa gave Russell Slade six players to fill two places.
Recent events have made the Addicks grateful for the depth they have in that area.
Karl Robinson will be without the suspended Teixeira on Saturday, and Pearce, Bauer and Lennon are all injured.
That leaves the manager with Roger Johnson – who last started a league game in August at Bury – and Konsa, who has been playing in midfield recently as his only options. Also, there is no senior back up available to put on the bench.
Teixeira will only miss one game because of his suspension, and Bauer’s hip injury should not keep him out for long.
Robinson will have pleny of thinking to do before he names his squad for Saturday’s match.
