Standard Liege centre back, Jorge Teixeira, seems certain to be Jose Riga’s first signing since his return to The Valley.

The much travelled 29-year-old has played in over 250 games across Europe, scoring 18 goals.

Teixeira is 6’2″ tall, right-footed and known to score his share of goals from set pieces.

Jose Riga will know the player from his time at Liege, and has moved quickly to strengthen his squad.

The new head coach will be hoping Teixeira quickly settles into the English game.

Riga will want to add another new face or two before Saturday’s game with Blackburn.
