Charlton slumped to a 4-0 reverse against Sint Truiden on Saturday evening.
Aaron Barnes, Morgan Fox, Harry Lennon and Regan Charles-Cook played the entire 90 minutes, but it was a very young team who contested the second half.
The Addicks started brightly, but it was the hosts who went ahead after 22 minutes, when Yannis Mbombo beat Nick Pope at his near post. The keeper may feel he could have done better.
Guy Luzon made four half-time changes, and his team again started the better of the two sides, but again failed to make the most of their opportunities,
Ayo Obileye was booked when he conceded a penalty after 72 minutes. Junior Edmilson converted the spot-kick.
Sint Truiden scored two late goals to wrap up a comprehensive 4-0 win.
Ten minutes from time, Mathias Schils low drive from the edge of the box added the third, and Jean-Luc Dompe scored the fourth a minute from time.
The Belgian League starts next weekend, so their teams are of Charlton in terms of fitness. The Addicks fielded a largely inexperienced side after the break but, nevertheless, Luzon will be disappointed with his team’s performance.
