It looks like being a busy couple of days before the transfer window closes on Tuesday.
Clubs will then have to rely on the squads they have in place until the end of the season. There is no longer the safety net of the emergency window to fall back on.
Charlton are likely to be active with both arrivals and departures expected. CEO, Katrien Meire, was missing from the directors’ box at Bolton on Saturday, possibly an indication that she was working on a deal.
It was surprising that neither Roger Johnson nor Frederik Ulvestad were involved on Saturday. Neither player was reported as being injured, and Johnson is unlikely to play for the club again.
Another player who could be on the move before the window closes is Nicky Ajose. The striker does not appear to naturally slot into Karl Robinson’s system, and he may benefit from a move away from The Valley.
Reports in his homeland suggest that Arsenal’s Polish midfielder, Krystian Bielik, could be arriving in south London on loan.
The 19-year-old is defensively minded, and can also play in central defence.
Ben Reeves is a player Robinson would like to bring to The Valley, but he has been quoted a prohibitive price by MK Dons. Reeves’ contract expires in the summer, when he could move on a free.
Robinson has said he is prepared to wait until then, but a compromise deal is possible. Reeves has missed MK Dons’ last two games through injury.
The manager has said he wants to bring in a striker who can also play on the wing. Robinson likes to recruit players who are under 24-years-old, otherwise Kieran Agard would be a perfect fit.
Agard is 27, and became MK Dons’ record buy when he signed for them in the summer.
It promises to be an interesting couple of days for Addicks fans.
