Monday was a busy day in SE7. With Millwall being involved in the Fifth Round of the FA Cup, Rochdale were left without a match on Saturday18 February.
Charlton were due to face Dale at the Crown Oil Arena next Tuesday, but both clubs acted quickly to get the game rearranged for 18 February. A Saturday game will generate more income for Rochdale, and will be more popular with the fans.
Another game to be rearranged was Scunthorpe at The Valley. The fixture was postponed last Saturday due to the Valley pitch being frozen. The game will now take place on Tuesday 7 March with a 7.45pm kick-off.
The Valley will now stage three games in a week. Walsall will be the visitors four days later, and Bradford City will be the opponents on the following Tuesday.
Jason Euell’s Under-23 side beat Ipswich 4-0 at Greenwich Borough’s ground on Monday afternoon. Josh Umerah opened the scoring, and Mikhail Kennedy added a hat-trick to give the Addicks a comprehensive win.
Nicky Ajose has been linked with a permanent move to Bradford City. Ajose has struggled to find the form that made him so prolific at Swindon last season.
The Bury born striker may be happy to move back north. If he goes, Karl Robinson will want to bring in a replacement.
One deal that looks likely to go through will bring young Arsenal striker, Stephy Mavididi, to The Valley.
A prolific scorer in the Gunners’ academy sides, Mavididi has yet to make a senior appearance.
There are likely to be more departures, and an arrival if Ajose moves is also possible.
