Following Darren Blackburn’s surprise departure from Sittingbourne, Nick Davis has returned to the manager’s chair for a second time and he’s glad to be back.
Davis has admitted at being taken aback how quickly the appointment was made. “It came as a massive surprise!” he said. “There were discussions over the past few days and things happened very quickly; I really enjoyed my time previously with the club and I think the opportunity to come and manage the Club again when it’s in a much better place than when I left it was really one that I couldn’t turn down!”
“I’m delighted to be back, and the supporters are a big part of why I’ve come back – they were fantastic when I was previously at the club. I’ve kept in touch with a few of them – they make the Club, they really do. They’re fantastic and they make Sittingbourne what they are in my opinion, and they are a huge part of why I’ve come back!”
“I set my own targets and expectations very high – I always do. I think I know this level as good as any manager in the League. I know the players and the teams as much as anyone; I’ve probably got as much experience as anyone, and I know that it’s not going to get any easier next season with the teams coming in.”
“Yes, there’s going to be a bit of a rebuild – I need to see exactly the players we’ve got and who’s staying, who we want to keep within the Club and who we want to bring in to improve things as a Club.”
“The Club are ambitious and want to push on – that’s something that really appeals to me as well. I know how big Sittingbourne are – in my eyes at least – and how big they were in the past and could be again. For me, the resurgence of the Club is really appealing.”
