Dependent on the blessing of good weather, Dartford finally return to league action on Saturday, as they host Weymouth at Princes Park.
Dartford have seen their last two games, being away trips to Truro and Bath, postponed due to icy weather. They have not played since the 9th of January, when they lost 2-1 away to
Maidstone United. The Darts took an early lead courtesy of a Luke Coulson penalty, but two late goals from Harry Kyprianou and Matt Rush condemned them to an eleventh loss of the
season.
In this period of time, a lot has changed at the Club. Manager Alan Dowson was dismissed nigh on two weeks ago, with the Darts winning just once since the beginning of December
and sitting 16th in the table. They have also seen the departure of striker Harvey Bradbury to Farnborough, while Taylor Maloney moved the other way to DA1.
New signing Maloney is available to make his first appearance for the Club on Saturday since joining from Farnborough. Additionally, the recalled Brandon Barzey could make his first appearance for Dartford since December, when he started in a 5-1 victory over Bromley in the Kent Senior Cup.
In the absence of a permanent manager in place, Tony Burman assumes the position in the interim. Burman returns to the Dartford dugout for the first time since honouring the same post in 2019 after the sacking of Jamie Coyle and Adam Flanagan, and was replaced by Steve King permanently in October.
Weymouth have had similar issues weather-wise, with their previous fixtures against Braintree and St Albans postponed due to a frozen pitch. Their away trip to Taunton on Tuesday, however, was played, and the Terras emerged victorious with two goals from their December POTM, Brandon Goodship.
In terms of Weymouth player news, Alfie Rutherford has returned to his parent club Dorking Wanderers, while the loan of Harry Parsons from Maidenhead United has been extended for a further month.
Following the midweek fixtures, which the Darts did not play in, they now sit 18th in the league. Weymouth have leaped ahead of Dartford following their win, sitting one point ahead in 16th. The Terras have closed their goal difference to minus three, while Dartford’s remains at minus one.
Weymouth have certainly got the better of Dartford in recent fixtures, winning the reverse fixture this term 3-1, and 1-0 at the Bob Lucas Stadium last season. Their form at Princes
Park in recent history, however, paints a different picture. Dartford emerged 3-0 victors at home in the league last season, and also beat them 1-0 in the FA Vase the season before, courtesy of a Jack Jebb volley.
Kick-off is 15:00 on Saturday, with tickets priced at £16 for adults and £11 for concessions.
