It’s local derby time on Tuesday evening when Dartford entertain Welling United in a Vanarama National League South fixture.
After Saturday’s games, Dartford remain in second place in the league table with the visitors in eighth. Both won over the weekend.
Substitutes had a big say in each of the games. Alex Wall came on for the Darts and added a brace to Josh Johnson’s early thunderbolt. His first was from the penalty spot after a handball in the penalty area and his second sealed the three points late on.
That win, their eighth in nine league games, took Dartford to within two points of Ebbsfleet United at the top of the table.
Devonte Aransibia entered the fray just shy of the hour mark in Welling’s game against Hungerford Town. Four minutes later, Chi Ezennolim was brought down in the penalty area and Aransibia blasted home from the spot.
For Welling it was a welcome three points having not previously won during the month of October and it moved them back up the table.
Princes Park has not been a happy hunting ground for Welling in recent years as the Darts have only dropped one point since Boxing Day 2013 in home encounters with the Wings.
Both clubs have had squad overhauls since the end of last season which includes players exchanging clubs. Maxwell Statham was at Welling last season but is now at Dartford while Ade Azeez has moved in the opposite direction.
Although, Dartford have an eleven point advantage over Welling, each team has lost four times so the gulf may be smaller than the table suggests, and it could be an intriguing encounter.
