In a profession where job security seems somewhat lacking, The Dart’s boss Tony Burman goes into this weekend’s FA Trophy tie with FC Halifax Town celebrating ten years at the helm at Princes Park.

Put into perspective, Burman has been at Dartford longer than this weekend’s opponents have been a club since the demise of the former Halifax Town FC in 2007 – FC Halifax Town soon arose from the ashes reformed by the former clubs Directors.

Unfortunately for Burman his charges go into the game as the having lost nine of their last ten in the league and the FA Trophy this weekend presents his side with the opportunity to focus on a good cup run with a view to playing at Wembley Stadium rather than their struggles in their ‘bread and butter’.

A win on Saturday could even be the catalyst the club needs to kick on with their league form and climb out the relegation zone.

In amongst the disappointing run in the league, The Darts have seen both FA Cup and FA Trophy Second Round action – Their recent victory at Burgess Hill Town sees them here whilst they lost at League One side Bradford City in the worlds most famous club cup competition.

The Darts face fellow Vanarama Conference side FC Halifax Town on Saturday in a repeat of their league fixture less than two weeks ago – That fixture saw the visitors come from one-nil down to a Harry Crawford opener to win 2-1 with top scorer Scott Boden scoring the winner from the penalty spot whilst the visitors also finished the game with 9 men with a man sent off in each half.

So happy anniversary to Tony Burman on Saturday where a win may not bring three points home but the prospect of being a step closer to Wembley Stadium would no doubt be just as rewarding.
