Bromley exited the final sixteen of the FA Trophy with a spirited display at their Conference Premier neighbours Dartford who taught them a lesson in clinical finishing and solid defending.
Bromley stared the game well with Pierre Joseph-Dubois missing a great early opportunity screwing a shot wide from ten yards.
The Darts went in front on 5 minutes when an awful back pass from Liam Harwood gifted Dagenham & Redbridge loanee Green with an easy finish. Bromley had a good shout for a penalty soon after when Aaron Rhule was brought down in the box, but the appeals were waved away.
The Ravens kept pushing though and on 19 minutes they drew level when Dubois made up for his earlier miss with a great finish from a similar position.
Sadly for Mark Goldberg’s men the parity didn’t last long when Harwood was beaten out wide and his deep cross caught Sanchez Ming out leaving Green to blast the ball home unmarked on 35 minutes.
Collier & Green went close for Dartford, while Elliott Buchanan hit one effort just wide and late in the half cannoned another off the post, but Bromley just couldn’t peg back their hosts before the break.
The Ravens began the second half well, but again laps defending gifted Burns with a third on 55 minutes and then on 66 minutes it was 4-1 when Tony Finn lost possession on The Darts box and seconds later the ball was in the Bromley goal after a lighting break was finished by Crawford.
Four minutes later Bromley fought back with Dubois finishing good work by Finn from close range. Sub Ali Chaaban had two efforts go just wide as The Ravens pressed for a way back in, but it just wasn’t to be.
This was Bromley’s best run in the competition since they entered it back in the late 60’s and this worthy effort must now be channelled into the second half of the league season.
