Dartford’s first competitive game of the season ends in defeat after a late winner from the penalty spot for Slough Town.
Slough scored the only goal of the game after a penalty was awarded in added time following a foul from Marsh-Brown. Jack McKnight scored from the spot and sent Slough into the next round.
The whole game was very even and the two well organised teams rarely gave away any opportunities to the opposition.
Early on the first half Dartford should have taken the lead after some good work from Barnum-Bobb resulted in the ball falling to Sheringham, only a few yards out, but he could only direct his effort wide.
Other than that the first half was bereft of chances for both teams and neither goalkeeper was tested.
The second half continued in the same vain and barring a big save from Turner in the Slough goal to deny Romain there wasn’t much goalmouth action.
As the game looked set to be heading to a penalty shootout Marsh-Brown brought down Okorogheye in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. McKnight made no mistake from the spot and duly fired Slough into the next round.
The Darts have a chance to bounce back on Tuesday when their league campaign starts with a home game against Chelmsford.
