The Addicks returned to winning ways on their return to English soil at Dagenham on Wednesday evening.
Goals in each half from Matt Partridge – who turned a Chris Solly cross into his own net – and a thunderous 25-yard free-kick from Tareiq Holmes-Dennis, after Ezra Konsa was fouled, were enough to give Charlton the win.
Guy Luzon changed all ten outfield players at half-time and Marko Dmitrovic replaced Nick Pope just past the hour mark.
The second half team was a young outfit, with the majority of the first teamers playing in the opening period.
Johnnie Jackson, Igor Vetokele, Stephen Henderson, Rhoys Wiggins, Jordan Cousins and Callum Harriott did not feature in the game.
Regan Charles-Cook did not look out of place in the Addicks engine room, and his partner, El-Hadji Ba, was the outstanding player on the park.
Charlton will next be in action on Saturday, when they face West Ham at The Valley.
