Gillingham have announced the signing of promising goalkeeper Jamie Cummings on loan this afternoon.
The 21-year-old joins the club from Chelsea for the season and he comes very highly rates.
Last season he was on loan in League Two and in that time he kept 18 clean sheets, which is exactly what the Gills faithful will be hoping he can do when in goals for the club.
He has already represented England at U17 and U19 level and has also played for Chelsea U21s in the EFL Trophy.
He has already begun training with the club and could play a part in tomorrow evenings friendly against Millwall.
Speaking to the club’s website Steve Evans said: “Jamie is an exceptional goalkeeper and last season was exceptional in League 2.
“He comes with no promises of game time, he will need to earn the right because Aaron Chapman has made a very impressive start.
“Jamie is very highly regarded at Chelsea and we are delighted they see Gillingham Football Club as a route for the lad to develop further.”
