Kent Crusaders tallied a 100-85 win over Tees Valley Mohawks to open up the Men’s NBL Division 2 regular season on Saturday afternoon at Brompton Academy.
Overcoming a 38 point outburst from Tees Valley’s Jones, Crusaders pulled away with a 31 point final quarter, in a high scoring affair that saw both teams break the 50 point barrier by halftime.
John Shodipo led Kent with 22, Amin Adamu had 20 whilst Obi Agu finished with 19. Dan Akin completed a 15 point, 11 rebound double double.
“Today we did enough to get the win without playing a consistent game,” Kent Head Coach Lloyd Gardner said.
“Defensively we know that it was a performance below our expectations of ourselves. We did look better on the offensive end though, so that is a small positive we can take going into the Doncaster game next week.”
Kent now travel to The Pods in Scunthorpe to take on Doncaster Danum Eagles at 4pm on October 15.
