Four Kent cyclists will take to the roads this week taking in three County Cricket Grounds to raise funds for the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
Members of Cricket Cubs will begin their gruelling 3 day sponsored bike ride on Tuesday morning, starting at the 44TWO Sports Club in Gillingham, visiting Lord’s Cricket Ground, Sussex County Cricket Club at Hove, Kent County Cricket Club at Canterbury, before returning to Gillingham on the Thursday 1st August with the ride covering about 250 miles.
“It’s a challenge that we have set ourselves, and no one objected to the proposed route. Besides, it’s for a great charity that are working extremely hard to change the way we all think and care about our hearts and health, and other people’s.” explains Jon Waite the founder of Cricket Cubs.
The 4 cyclists that will be setting off for the 3 days whilst being supported by a Regional organisation in a support vehicle. Steve Short, a member of the South East 4×4 Response Unit has volunteered his time to be on hand if any of the riders need assistance.
Cricket Cubs and Friends have already held a raffle raising money for the CRY charity, and the bike ride is the next fundraising event they are doing. Cricket Cubs also have other events being planned and hope to raise as much money as they can by Christmas, when they present a cheque to the Cardiac Risk in the Young charity.
