Cray Wanderers vs Horsham preview

In form Cray Wanderers are back in Isthmian League Premier Division action on Saturday afternoon in a match up between third and fourth when they entertain Horsham at Hayes Lane.

The Wands went the whole of January unbeaten, finishing it off with an impressive 3-2 win away at Enfield Town thanks to a double from Charlie Allen and an injury time winner from Jay Leader and this was despite missing top scorer Joe Taylor for the game.

Horsham make the trip up from Sussex having drawn their last game 3-3 at home to Bishop Stortford. The Hornets have former Cray Wands captain Lea Dawson in their team, a popular figure who had an impressive spell in his time at the club.

The sides are only one point apart with Tony Russell’s side on 48 points from 27 matches, while Horsham have one less point from one fewer games.

When the teams met at The Community Stadium back in October the game ended 1-1 with Dawson putting The Hornets in front just after the half hour, before Leader equalised for Cray two minutes later.

Both clubs were promoted from the South East Division One last season, The Wands as champions, while Horsham won the play off final in May. Cray won 4-3 when they met at Hayes Lane in March last season on their way to the title.

Saturday looks set to be equally as tight as two good sides, right up in the play off picture, go head to head looking to gain an advantage on their opponent.

Entrance for the game is £10 for adults and £5 for concessions, while season ticket holders of Premier League, Football League and National League clubs can gain entry for only £5 on production of their season ticket at the turnstile.
